How to use DeshDraft on Windows

Install and set up

1. Install DeshDraft from its Microsoft Store listing on Windows 11 x64.
2. Launch the app, open Settings from the system tray and sign in for cloud writing.
3. Check your writing and dictation shortcuts in Settings. Shortcuts can be changed, so use the combinations shown in your app.
4. Download the local models for the features you want, then enable those features. Voice is available on Free; local spelling and phrase completion require Plus or Pro.

CPU processing is supported. Compatible GPU acceleration depends on your hardware, drivers and selected profile. Larger models need more storage and memory; performance varies by computer. Speech processing requires the Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 x64 runtime.

Rewrite text with ?fix and custom commands

Use a cloud transformation when you want to change grammar, tone or structure. You can select text and open the transformation chooser with your configured shortcut. Alternatively, with inline commands enabled, append a keyword to the text and press Space.

Common commands include ?fix for grammar, ?formal for a professional tone and ?reply for an answer to your text. Built-in transformations also support summaries, English translation and other writing tasks.

Append a result count from 1 to 5, such as ?fix:2, to request alternatives. Without a count, the command requests one result. Review the choice before inserting. The credit quote depends on the operation, text length and result count.

To make your own action, open Transformations, add a shortcut and prompt, and test it with sample text. Custom-command tests use cloud credits. A saved user-preferences field can provide extra context to cloud writing without replacing the action’s core instructions.

Press Escape during generation to cancel. Use ?undo to request restoration of the original after a replacement. DeshDraft checks the target field and later edits before restoring; it will not safely undo every changed field. If the editor changes, use the available recovery result rather than overwriting unrelated text.

Correct spelling with surrounding context

Plus and Pro include automatic local spelling correction. Enable it in Settings. Corrections can use nearby words to distinguish a typing error from a word that belongs in the sentence, including letter swaps, missing or extra letters and some joined or split words.

Spelling assistance handles typing errors; use ?fix when you want a broader grammar or tone transformation. Keep checking names, specialist terms and meaning. A personal dictionary and the available correction settings help when a legitimate word is repeatedly changed. An optional advanced spelling model requires a separate download.

Accept the next word or phrase

Local phrase completion is included in Plus and Pro. Download the prediction resources and manually enable suggestions in Settings. When a suggestion is available in a supported field, Right Arrow accepts one word and Tab accepts the visible phrase. Escape dismisses it.

Predictions are suggestions, not a promise to understand your intended next sentence. They depend on the available writing context, model and editor. You can pause assistance, exclude applications or reset learned personalisation in Settings.

Use free offline voice typing

DeshDraft’s English voice dictation runs locally after you download a speech model. Open Dictation settings, choose a model and microphone, test the microphone, and enable the feature. Use the recording shortcut shown in your app. The floating orb shows recording activity; recording behaviour follows your selected shortcut settings.

On a supported focused text field, the transcript is intended for insertion there. If no safe field is available or focus changes, review the transcript offered by the app rather than assuming it was inserted. The movable, resizable orb can be positioned to suit your workspace.

Once the model is installed, local dictation does not need a cloud AI request. Pronunciation, microphone quality, background noise and names can affect accuracy. Review the transcript before sending it.

Reuse signatures, replies and templates

Saved text shortcuts are free and expand locally. Add a shortcut such as ;sig for a signature or ;email for a frequently used reply. Templates can include blanks such as a name or company. These expansions do not require an AI request or cloud credits.

Understand free access, paid tools and credits

Local tools do not spend cloud credits. Short built-in cloud actions start at 1 credit per result. Custom commands, tests and prompt builds start at 3 credits per result. Longer work and additional results can cost more; review the quote before execution. Failed or unusable generations release the reservation.

Cloud credits depend on shared capacity and do not guarantee throughput. Free credits reset at midnight IST. Paid local tools work through the verified paid period with the required models downloaded, even if cloud credits run out. Know what is local and which fields are supported

Voice, spelling, phrase completion and snippets run on your device. Cloud transformations send the selected text or captured writing field, instructions and relevant preferences through DeshDraft’s service to an AI provider. Only run cloud actions on text you want to send. No provider API-key setup is needed in the app.

DeshDraft works with supported editable fields; support varies by application. Password fields and administrator applications are excluded. Review every AI result and avoid changing focus during capture or insertion.

If assistance is missing, check that the app is running and not paused, the feature is enabled, the required model is installed, the app is not excluded, and your paid access is valid where required. If a cloud request reports shared capacity is busy, retry later; it does not spend credits.
